Wellspring Settlement in Barton Hill is offering a range of valuable programmes and services for parents and carers throughout the autumn term. These free opportunities provide excellent support for families with children from birth to teenage years.
The Family Centre at Settlement Site on Ducie Road runs a comprehensive weekly timetable from Tuesday 9th September to Thursday 24th October. Parents can access stay and play sessions for children under five, along with specialist support including Baby Hub sessions for infant feeding advice, Baby PEEP classes for babies aged 0-12 months, and the four-week Hello Baby antenatal programme.
Two particularly noteworthy parenting courses are currently accepting bookings. The Parent Puzzle is a four-week programme starting on 25th September, running on Thursday mornings from 9.30am to 12.00pm. This course covers understanding and managing behaviour, creating boundaries, dealing with stress and looking after ourselves as parents. The Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (SFSC) programme is a more comprehensive 13-week course beginning on 18th September, also on Thursday mornings from 9.15am to 12.15pm. This programme helps parents build positive family relationships, manage anger and stress, implement effective discipline strategies, and gain confidence in their parenting skills.
Both courses offer free childcare spaces, though these must be booked in advance. The programmes welcome parents and carers from all backgrounds and provide certificates upon completion.
Additional services include one-to-one meetings with family workers, Food Club membership opportunities, and monthly SEND support services. For expectant mothers, there are also pregnancy movement classes on Monday afternoons and postnatal recovery sessions on Wednesday mornings through the MumCircle Strength programme.
