As the summer term draws to a close, the children in Oak Room have been making the most of their time together, enjoying a rich variety of activities that support their development across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The garden has become a hub of exploration and movement, with children practicing ball skills and building confidence as they climb and move in new and exciting ways. These physical activities support the EYFS area of Physical Development, helping children to develop coordination, control, and movement.
Water and sand play have also been popular, offering opportunities for sensory exploration and imaginative play, which are key aspects of Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World. Indoors, children have begun to explore early mathematical concepts through pattern-making, laying the foundations for future learning in the Mathematics area of the EYFS.
Perhaps most importantly, the children are cherishing their final weeks together as a class. The strong friendships they have formed are a testament to their growing social and emotional development, aligning with the EYFS goal of Personal, Social and Emotional Development. It’s been a joyful and enriching time in Oak Room, full of learning, laughter, and lasting memories.
