Coming up in June’s newsletter from St Philip’s Marsh Nursery School you can read about a busy and exciting final term, with the garden in full bloom and the children making the most of the warm weather with water play, puddle splashing and mud kitchen creations.
In Elm Class the children are caring for named caterpillars, learning about their life cycle through The Very Hungry Caterpillar, watering the seeds they have planted, and continuing to develop their keen interest in mark making.
In Beech Class there has been tower building with Duplo and bricks, construction in the garden in builders’ hats and hi viz jackets, messy play with green gloop, counting and subtracting through songs, and a warm welcome to new children joining the class.
In Oak Class the children have been exploring mini beasts with magnifying glasses, reading Superworm, observing caterpillars and learning about butterfly life cycles, developing fine motor skills through pegs, scissors and tape activities, and practising listening skills through sound games.
In Fir Class there has been great excitement about the caterpillars, alongside learning about pattern using natural materials, colour blocks and peg boards, and exploring instruments including drums and wooden tapping sticks.
You can also read about the end of year celebration planned for Wednesday 15 July, the summer raffle, important allergy guidance, a free Big Brush Club oral health webinar for parents, resources to support children getting ready for Reception, an increase to session and meal prices from September, and a Bristol City Council letter about measles vaccination.
