Large-Scale Garden Art
Children from our two-year-olds and three-year-olds have been making marks in the garden through exciting large-scale art experiences. We hung white sheets from the washing lines in the garden and used spray bottles filled with paint to transform them, creating dramatic splashes of colour whilst developing hand strength and coordination. Some of the children said, “we are artists!” showing wonderful recognition of themselves as creative makers.
The next day we continued making marks, this time using traditional paint brushes and paint on cardboard, exploring different techniques and tools for artistic expression. Afterwards the children helped to clean up with soapy water, brushes, and sponges, taking responsibility for tidying their workspace. We washed it all down with the hose, which was just as much fun as the painting! “Best day ever!” said one of the children, capturing the joy and engagement of these outdoor creative experiences.

Play in the Garden – Making the Most of the Weather
Bubbles are a great activity for cold, dry days. We have been learning to blow air through the bubble wands, developing breath control and hand-eye coordination whilst creating magical floating spheres to chase and catch. Wet days are for splashing and exploring water, embracing all weather conditions and discovering the properties of puddles and rain whilst building resilience and enjoyment of outdoor play whatever the season.
