Muddy Fun and Healthy Smiles in Oak Room

The children in Oak Room have been thoroughly enjoying the recent spring rain and downpours, which have transformed our outdoor mud pit into an even muddier playground. This enhanced muddy environment has provided fantastic opportunities for rich sensory exploration, allowing the children to experience different textures and consistencies as they dig their hands and tools into the wet earth. The mud has also sparked imaginative play scenarios, with children creating stories and adventures around their muddy discoveries.

The children have been particularly engaged in digging activities, using various tools to excavate and explore the depths of the mud pit. They have also been experimenting with filling and emptying containers, developing their understanding of capacity and volume while having a tremendous amount of fun. The laughter and joy that fills the outdoor space during these muddy play sessions demonstrates just how much the children are benefiting from this hands-on, natural play experience.

In addition to our outdoor muddy adventures, we are excited to announce that we have recently joined the NHS supervised toothbrushing scheme, known as the Big Brush Club. This vital health initiative has been integrated into our daily routine, and the children have enthusiastically adopted this new activity. We have begun incorporating tooth brushing sessions into our nursery day, and it has been wonderful to observe how the children have taken to this new routine.

The children have shown remarkable pride in demonstrating their tooth brushing skills, carefully following the proper techniques and showing great concentration as they brush. This new addition to our daily routine not only supports their oral health but also helps them develop important self-care skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
