Three Billy Goats Gruff Adventures
This term, Elm Room has been thoroughly enjoying our book of the term, “The Three Billy Goats Gruff.” The children have been bringing this classic tale to life in many creative ways! They’ve been busy constructing their own bridges using bricks and tables, taking turns hiding underneath as trolls, and role-playing this beloved story.
We’ve also been learning about different sizes by comparing the big, medium, and small goats from our story. This has sparked curiosity as children search around the classroom for other objects that come in different sizes.
Songs We’ve Been Singing
Our musical sessions have been filled with counting songs that the children love:
- “5 Little Ducks”
- “5 Little Men in a Flying Saucer”
- “5 Currant Buns”
Developing Fine Motor Skills
The children have been strengthening their hand muscles and coordination through various activities:
- Chopping fruits, vegetables, and herbs during cooking sessions
- Using fishing rods to catch paper fish
- Practising with scissors and hole punches
- Making marks and patterns in flour using tools and their hands
Celebrating Eid
We’ve enjoyed learning about Eid celebrations by colouring pictures of temples, moons, and stars. The children have explored books about this special celebration and enjoyed festive parties with their friends.
Coming Up After the Holidays
When we return, we’ll be celebrating Easter and starting our new book of the term, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar.” We can’t wait to see what exciting activities this will inspire!
We hope you all have a wonderful Easter holiday and look forward to seeing everyone back for more learning and fun!
