Children using iPads in School

At St Philip’s Marsh Nursery we use a lot of ICT with the children, not only to introduce ICT use to children, but also as a tool to develop language and creative play.  ICT is embedded throughout the School, not just part of a separate ICT lesson.

We recently wanted to explore iPads and the partnership we have with Brislington Enterprise College (BEC) has enabled us to do so.

The children have been playing with the iPads in sessions using apps such as ‘PuppetPals’ and ‘My Little Story Maker’ to create stories.  They also played with the iPads during free play time.

The storytelling allows the children to develop their language, speaking and listening and also their imagination.

Many of the children radiated to games they already knew, but once they started to explore they found apps such as music and jigsaws and also began playing with these.

Using the iPads made available through BEC has been a really great resource for the School and we hope to be able to build on this in the future.
