We were delighted to learn that our garden was awarded a ‘silver-gilt award’ by Bristol in Bloom’s School Garden Competition 2015 ‘Learning Through Gardening’, run in conjunction with Bristol City Council Allotment Section. Chris Curry and Pat Fitton collected the award from The Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Bristol Councillor Clare Campion-Smith at a presentation evening recently. We also received a framed certificate (which is proudly displayed in the foyer) and £35 vouchers which will be spent on seeds and tools for the garden.
The judge’s comments were:
“The Forest School is proving to be an excellent outside learning resource that is available to and enjoyed by all the children. The school grounds are an informal learning area providing each child with an opportunity to experience ‘sowing and growing’ and the wonders of nature first hand. It was delightful to see the new brick raised planters, replacing the old wooden ones, these can now continue to give each class a ‘Garden Patch’ of their own.”
