Recently, we immersed ourselves in exploring and celebrating Lunar New Year traditions. As we learned about 2025 being the Year of the Snake, our children engaged in various sensory and cultural experiences.
Through hands-on exploration, we investigated how noodles transform from hard to soft during cooking, supporting the children’s understanding of materials and changes. The children practised their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination by using chopsticks, tweezers, and tongs.
Our mark-making activities included creating Chinese-inspired characters with black paint. The children learnt about how families celebrate this important festival through stories and videos.
Our home areas were transformed into Chinese restaurants, encouraging imaginative play, social interaction, and communication skills. The children tasted traditional foods like noodles, fortune cookies, and Chinese tea – Yum!
Our energetic lion dancing sessions promoted physical development and coordination.
