Shaun in the City

We would like to express our thanks to Burges Salmon LLP (Solicitors) who kindly donated a Shaun in the City schools sculpture to the School.

During Term 5 the children explored the theme of ‘opposites’.  Activities included weaving and sewing and learning new oppositional language such as in/out, up/down, forwards/backwards, short/long.  This became the inspiration for decorating Shaun.  Firstly, we covered Shaun with black net and then the children from all four classes had the opportunity to weave, thread, twist and knot brightly coloured ribbons through it.  The children chose the colour of ribbon they wanted and used scissors to cut the ribbon to whatever length they liked.

We think he looks very colourful and flamboyant and Owen Flook (Class 4) named him ‘Shaun the Rainbow Sheep’.

We are  hoping to be able to display Shaun over the summer holidays at a public location with other schools sculptures.  We will keep you informed once it has been finalised.  Click here to see his transformation.
