Thank you to Leeloo, the Leonberger therapy dog, and her owner for coming in to the School last week for a visit. There was great excitement when Leeloo came in but the children were taught that when they meet a dog how important it is to always ask the owner’s permission to stroke the dog, use gentle hands, not poke the dog’s eyes or pull the tail. The children also learnt the Makaton sign for dog. The children who had previous worries about a dog visiting were reassured and appeared to be more confident around the dog by the end of the visit.
