We are delighted to announce that our beautiful garden was awarded the Bristol in Bloom Learning Through Gardening 2017 Gold Award.  Simon Holmes, Headteacher, and Chris Curry, our gardening co-ordinator, attended the awards ceremony on Friday 14 July at Ashton Gate.  As well as a certificate they were presented with £40 voucher to spend at a garden centre.  The judges said:

St Philip’s Marsh Nursery School ~ 83% Gold … encouraging children’s awareness of their natural surroundings

This school continues to be a good example of an inner-city school making the very most of its outdoor learning facilities. The school re-organisation that we were told about last year has proved very successful, giving the children better access to the ‘great outdoors’. The evident enthusiasm of the children is highlighted in their individual pictorial diaries making a nice record to take with them when they move on to primary school. All members of staff are very supportive of the outdoor learning ethos, bringing tadpole and butterfly projects into the classroom. Parents and visitors are greeted by a presentation on the screen of the children planting their vegetables ~ always a good way to demonstrate the hands-on approach taken by the school.”
